  WARRIORS AND CONQUERORS

              The greatest warriors have to be clever as well as brave. They must plan their battles carefully and inspire their soldiers to face danger. some  warriors have  fought for their people’s freedom. Others have conquered foreign nations and taken their land. Of cource, these warriors may not seem great to their enemies. But even their enemies may respect their skill in fighting.

            TERROR OF CENTRAL ASIA

Genghis khan (1162-1227) created the Mongol Empire, which stretched from China to Persia, present day Iran. His army traveled faster than their enemies and could mount surprise attacks.

Genghis Khan was well known for his cruelty, especially to the people he defeated. His family later ruled China for over a century.

             WARRIOR AND SAINT

Joan of Arc (C. 1412-31) was a French farm girl. She believed that god wanted her to lead the French army against the English. After several victories, she was captured and burned as a witch. In 1920  she was made a saint.

           CONQUEROR OF EUROPE

Nepolean Bonaparte(1769-1821) made himself emperor of  france  in 1804. he went on to conquer most of Europe . he was defeated in 1815 at battle of waterloo, Belgium, by  Britist, Dutch,Belgian, and German troops.

           EMPIRE BUILDER

Alexander the great (356-323 B.C) ruled the kingdom of Macedonia, to the north of Greece. In just over 10 years he created an empire stretching all the way to India, before dying aged 33. Alexandria in Egypt was founded by him.
